from the entrance hole the bronze implodes in the drainage channels and settles in the "magma chamber". the glow is now frozen but the liveliness and strength is felt within itself. The movement is captured, a force, a breath, a moment. They are immobile but hide a breath a remote force. I sit, I lie, I stand, I hang. Every position becomes a suspended instant, where stillness and movement coexist, preserving the memory of a living force.

Multiple angles, changing times and light constantly transform the shape it always looks different. It has to satisfy in all visions. In the morning, the light arrives gently, with little contrast. By lunchtime, it floods in through the ceiling windows. Then the sun passes over the foundry, and around 4 p.m.it rests on the roof across the street the light turns yellow-pink. Darkness comes, I switch on the spotlight. Everything is different. Now the forehead is too prominent, too much shadow. I remove a layer of clay. The head is the favored part. I look at photos and videos. I add the material, shape the skull. Then eyes, nose, mouth, chin. From this point on, I only see volumes, abstract forms. It’s important to get lost and keep working. Days can be positive or negative or just flat. Negative days are challenging, extremely instructive, and formative. I try to overcome them with a sporting spirit. Keep going, keep working, and in that constancy, let go. Modeling on a large scale brings a special, interesting kind of involvement. Struggle and harmony. Physical and mental engagement. Eyes open, alert. I study the photo I study the prints to understand, discover those round, flat, soft forms. Now they’re mine, and I can work without photos.

From the small to the giant, it’s a constant visual study and transfer of information. It happens in my body and then is to the sculpture. Transfer of information. The movements of hands and arms are large and exhausting, especially at the beginning. This is how the gesture is captured, my movement in the clay. It happens in my body and then is transferred to the sculpture. I see all of this action as an improvised choreography.
Positive days are those where, from the first minutes, I feel light and free, intuition must be leaders. My hands are ready to constantly change the form, my thoughts too must follow this tendency. Constant mental gymnastics getting used to change. I did it like this, I saw it like this, but it could be another way too. So I follow the intuition and the path I choose to take.
If it doesn’t work, then it’s good to do something else “Joe andiamo”,we go out. I walk comfortably in my blue uniform an intimate, warm, familiar affection lives in these overalls. I love walking like this, going grocery shopping, buying a crate of sparkling water.
One thing makes up for the other. A movement inspired by a sound then inspires a fresh thought or intention. I’m very productive lazy as well. Moments when I need someone to speak to me persistently a cold shower always helps.
To understand and to see, to question and to imagine.
Head, imagination, body that applies.
I lose myself in the movements.
How did I do it?
I don’t know but that’s exactly how I wanted it.
What effort, what melancholy, what urgency, what release, development, study, emptiness, satisfaction.
What do I say, what do they see?
To give energy because it’s from energy that I begin.

“Bist du schon da?”
“Bernhard, I can’t believe it. In my head it was tomorrow. I’m coming will 10 minutes do?”
“Come straight to the stage no makeup.”
“Manon Lescaut”
25th, Friday I leave. By train Joe has a ticket too. I don’t have a suitcase. Always those yellow “S lunga” bags strong, yellow. Perfect for when I travel by Panda.
I arrive in Dresden around 1 p.m., Aleksandar is waiting. The premiere is that same evening. An unforgettable performance every time.
That’s where we last saw each other. I like the shower in that apartment cold, hot, cold, hot. Strong jet,
27th, Sunday I’ll already be in Munich, with Joe, without Aleksandar. I don’t eat while I work I just don’t feel like it. I always nibble. An almond, an apple, radicchio, fennel, dried fruit, vitamins, an orange. I like to chew. It helps me feel focused, light, agile.
